Reaching the people of Guatemala with God’s Word requires more than
translated Scriptures in print. They are an “oral society” and learn more by
listening, watching, and interacting than by reading. So even when the Bible is
available in printed form in their heart language, they are not likely to use
it. That’s why we are so excited about the Viña (pronounced “vin-ya”) recording
studio. Viña is reaching the people where they are by producing Latin American
audio and video dramatizations of the New Testament, as well as finger puppets
called “deditos” that tell Bible stories to children.
Recently, through your generous contributions, a team of Wycliffe Associates
volunteers installed a much-needed air-conditioning and heating system at the
studio. The new system is more than a creature comfort. It will help extend the
life of the costly recording equipment because the staff will be able to keep
the doors and windows closed at all times, keeping out the dust that is so
harmful to the electronic components. And that means even more lost people will
be exposed to the Bible’s message of God’s love and grace!
