Often Bible translation projects take place in communities that are struggling with the most basic needs. When people are struggling just to feed themselves or don’t have access to clean water, it’s hard for translators to focus on their linguistic work.
Wycliffe Associates comes alongside Bible translators in the field to assist with community development projects. In addition to ensuring translators have adequate facilities and equipment for translation services; we also work to resolve issues such as food shortages, poverty, or lack of clean water.
In Southeast Asia, one Bible translator found high levels of E. coli and cholera in his village’s water supply. Wycliffe Associates helped install 100 “sealed wet toilets,’ enabling this community to clean up its water supply. Thanks to the concern of this translator, the work of our team, and gifts from friends like you, we were able to demonstrate God’s love in action by meeting the physical needs of this community—and hopefully, open more hearts to God's message of hope through His written Word.
