A recent eOpportunities document highlighted the
need for people to manage our Volunteer Center in Cameroon. The
great news is that three couples are now planning to cover that
responsibility throughout 2010! This will be a huge blessing to the
Bible translation teams working there and to the volunteers who will
be working in Cameroon to support them.
In just a few months, we have a similar need in beautiful Papua
New Guinea (PNG).
Do you know that PNG has Bible translation currently underway in
more languages than any other country in the world? There are over
400 missionary families working in PNG, and in recent years,
Wycliffe Associates has had 100-125 volunteers working there to
support Bible translation.
We expect to have more volunteers serving in PNG this year than
any other single location.
Several years ago, we built a Volunteer Center in PNG to
accommodate up to 28 people at a time. It includes a private
apartment for the center hosts, a kitchen, a dining room, a lounge,
and Internet connections. The Volunteer Center hosts work alongside
five Wycliffe Associates families and hundreds of missionary
families from around the world.
We are looking for a couple, or an individual, who could be
available during June-December 2010 for this role.
The first qualification required is “availability.” The second
requirement is “hospitality.” English is commonly spoken within PNG.
The surroundings are beautiful, the climate is mild, and the people
are tremendous servants of God with a heart for His Word.
If you, or someone you know, would like to learn more about this
opportunity to help accelerate Bible translation and be a blessing
to missionaries and volunteers, just reply to web@wycliffeassociates.org
or give us
a call toll-free at 1-800-THE-WORD (800-843-9673).
In order to cover all the bases for travel and visas, we really
need to begin planning during January, so don’t put this off.
Contact us soon if you’d like to learn more about this opportunity.
Thanks!
