With around 800 languages still without Scripture, Africa is a high priority for Bible translation.
Wycliffe Associates has worked in more than a dozen countries in Africa in recent years and is prioritizing the nations that have large populations without Scripture. One of these is the Central African Republic (CAR).
CAR is in the geographic center of Africa extending from dense rainforests in the southwest to the Sahara Desert in the northeast. More significantly, nearly half of the population of CAR does not have access to Scripture in their own language!
Central African Association for Bible Translation and Literacy (ACATBA) was formed in 1993 and has gained additional official recognition from the CAR government in recent years.
They currently have over 60 staff members working in 11 languages, and have a vision to impact up to 40 more languages in the coming years.
During a visit by one of our Wycliffe Associates leaders last month, several opportunities for partnership emerged. Perhaps the greatest impact would be for an accountant to provide training and coaching for ACATBA’s finance team.
Training would strengthen their team, inform their stewardship decisions, provide important accountability to international financial partners, and position ACATBA for expansion into additional languages urgently needing Scripture.
If you. or someone you know, would be interested in more information on this opportunity to advance Bible translation, just reply to web@wycliffeassociates.org or call Tim Coleman toll-free at 1-800-THE WORD (800-843-9673). Tim can give you more details and encourage you as you consider this service opportunity.
If God has given you accounting skills and experience, you could be the answer to our prayers!
